Robert L. Kelcourse, Broker/Manager, 41 years entreprenuerial business ownership, consulting, brokerage experience. Dartmouth College 1971; From ’71-’80 became a “Giant” of the marine retail pleasure boating industry in Weymouth & Amesbury, Massachusetts; He bought, with an SBA loan, a marina in 1975 from what he would later come to call a business broker ; In preparation for a repeat gas shortage in 1980, he sold his marina interests to brother/partner who still owns it. DOE’s 1980 gas conservation proposal to ban weekend pleasure boating coupled with 22% prime interest rates decimated the pleasure powerboat industry and forced closure of the dealership in 1980. Deciding business sales woud be his future career, he was hired in 1981 as an Independent Consultant by George Nadaff and Tom West to sell VR Business Brokers franchises around the country. Sales accelerated to 60 franchises in 6 months and left VR Corporate happy but short on operational people. Not wanting to fulfill that role, Mr Kelcourse’s planned and disclosed move to Florida was kept in the summer of 1982, initially working as an independent associate, eventually purchasing the Clearwater VR Business Brokers franchise in 1993 with 2 partners. Awarded Top National Sales Award in 1994, instrumental in the Clearwater office attaining the #1 position in the company by 1998, selling his interest to a partner in late 1999, and leaving at the end of 2000, he continued business brokerage while also consulting for a large entertainment nightclub his wife, Olga, became involved in beginning in January 2001. He was instrumental in The Round Up achieving an Academy of Country Music Top 10 NightClub of the Year Award in 2003. Club concerts by Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, Gary Allan, Tracy Byrd, Toby Keith, Rascall Flatts and many other top artists over the years while honoring all bookings after 9/11 certainly caught the attention of those in Nashville. Olga sold her interest in 2007 and Bob turned his full-time attention back to helping others enter, enhance, expand, and exit their entreprenuerial pursuits as Managing Broker of BizMax Business Brokers.
